COYA Abu Dhabi celebrated Emirati Women’s Day by collaborating with Emirati artist and designer Hajar Al Tenaiji. The talented designer’s iconic Al Khayl Modular Table piece was installed to mark the day and will be on display until 5th September.
Curator and founder of Hajar Design Studio, an elegant boutique in Abu Dhabi’s picturesque Al Bateen area, Hajar is a creative one-of-a-kind artist. Passionate about showcasing the treasured cultural heritage of the UAE, her pieces combine contemporary and classic styles to tell the stories of her nation and highlight its admirable cultural diversity.
Showcased from Tuesday, August 23rd, to Monday, September 5th, guests are invited to admire Hajar’s stunning and thought-provoking Al Khayl modular installation in the reception of COYA Abu Dhabi.
A striking collection of geometric pouf chairs that come together to create one beautiful coffee table, the form of this ground-breaking piece is inspired by the shapes of Al Sadu, the UAE’s traditional weaving technique that is still used in Emirati majlis decorations.
A majlis symbolises the magic of Arabian hospitality and generosity. By using the powers of art and design, Hajar aims to represent the multi-layered aspects of Emirati culture, preserve the legacy of her home country, and take her audience on a journey of exploration and discovery.
Dedicated to supporting local artists and promoting equality, COYA Abu Dhabi is honoured to pay tribute to the UAE’s many powerful, intelligent and inspiring women and host this enchanting exhibition from Hajar Design Studio.
